c. Frank Herrin and Hugh Price attended the Area 8 speech contest in <br />Charlotte on March 27th. Aninda Wilson, the Cabarrus District's first <br />place winner also received first place winner eighth grade) at the <br />Area contest. <br />d. The Soil and Water Stewardship Week material has been counted and <br />delivered to the Extension Homemakers to deliver to the churches in <br />observance of Soil and Water Stewardship. 10,000 book markers were <br />purchased by the Cabarrus District for this occasion. <br />e. The Cabarrus District plans to send a delegate to the Resource <br />Conservation Workshop.. Material about the workshop was sent to all <br />Agriculture teachers and also to the newspapers. No response has been <br />received from the information. <br />Mark Herrin, son of Frank Herrin has requested that he attend the workshop. <br />All applicants, if others are received, will be reviewed at the May meeting <br />by the supervisors. <br />f. The National Wildlife Packets will be delivered to the schools next week <br />in observance of Wildlife Week and to incorporate into the schools _programs <br />on Earth Day -April 22. <br />g. The State speech contest is scheduled to be held on May 4, 1990 in the <br />Archdale Building in Raleigh at 1:30 P.M. Frank Herrin plans to see that <br />Aninda Wilson will attend and compete in the contest. <br />LAND -USE: Sue Casper and a crew of volunteers cleaned part of Three -Mile <br />Branch of litter and debris in an effort to keep C. Clean and <br />Beautiful. The event was held April 7th. <br />6. OLD BUSINESS: None <br />7. NEW BUSINESS: The 1990 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES of the N. C. Association of Soil <br />and Water Districts have been received in the office and distributed <br />to the supervisors and office staff. <br />The Cabarrus Soil and Water District, in cooperation with the <br />Mecklenburg Soil and Water District plan to share cost for the.: <br />purchase of a new sign using both District names. <br />Scheduled to be held: Tuesday, May 8, 1990 Agriculture Center at 8:.00 P.M. <br />PLEASE NO'T'E NEW TI24E OF MAY MEETING! <br />A n <br />Frank Herrin, Jr., Chairman <br />Sue B.
