EDUCATION: <br />a. Frankie Singleton is obtaining information on GLENN SMJTH who was selected <br />to be the District's FARMER OF THE YEAR- 1992., The form will be completed <br />and sent to the Area Chairman. <br />b. Dennis Testerman delivered the District's poster and essay contest held <br />by Cabarrus County students to the Area Chairman- 3- 4 -92., <br />Plans are being made for: March 17 Area speech contest in Mocksville; <br />March 20 -Arbor Day in Cabarrus County; April 19-25-National Wildlife <br />Week and April 26-May-3-Soil ans water Stewardship Week. <br />LAND - USE: C. Frank Herrin and Sue Casper attended a meeting in Raleigh with the <br />Environmental Review Committee concerning legislation proposals on landfills. <br />Sue announced that another meeting will be held 3 -27 -92 in Raleigh to hear <br />further news on the landfill proposals. <br />Sue reported visiting Martins Scrap Yard and money has been allocated to <br />move the hazard site higher on the list of pollutants. <br />1 Meeting March 11, 1992 -7:30 P.M. Agriculture Center. <br />NEW BUSINESS: A decision was made that M ra Morrison get the sideways software for <br />the District and be reembursed for the cost. <br />White Business Machine brought in a demo. copier for the District to <br />use and observe different operations on the machine. <br />Sue Casper reported on the regional planning sym- )osium, " Sharing the <br />Vision ", held at the Cabarrus Co. agriculture building on 3 -5 -92. This <br />event was planned by the Concord - Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce <br />Committee on regional development, with leadership by the Urban Institute <br />at UNC- Charlotte. <br />OLD BUSINESS: a. Supervisors signed expense vouchers at this meting. <br />b.
