During review of the proposed resolution, there was discussion <br />relative to the proposed extension of Highway 136 and its termination on Union <br />Street and Highway 601 Business. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Moss with Chairman <br />Lentz and Commissioners Moss and Melvin voting for and Commissioner Simmons <br />voting against, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Cabarrus County, and its municipalities are experiencing <br />rapid growth and development of residential, commercial <br />and industrial uses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, traffic congestion and traffic safety are becoming <br /> increasing concerns of the area; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners endorses the following projects for the North <br />Carolina Transportation Improvement Program: <br /> <br />The West-Side Bypass from Rainbow Drive (SR 1643) to Highway <br />49 (Project Numbers U-2009 and R-2246). <br /> <br />The improvement of Highway 73 from Highway 29 to Interstate <br />77. <br /> <br /> <br />
