206 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for and on behalf of the citizens and residents of <br />Cabarrus County, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County has <br />initiated the construction of a water supply reservoir in Township <br />3, Cabarrus County, North Carolina, commonly known as the "Coddle <br />Greek Reservoir Project"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, upon completion of the Coddle Creek Reservoir <br />Project, the reservoir will inundate a portion of State Road 1619 <br />(Rankin Road, for a distance of 1.4 miles along Ranktn Road north <br />of its intersection with North Carolina Highway 73, and will further <br />inundate a portion of State Road 1620 (Macedonia Church Road) for <br />a distance of 0.1 mile (500 linear feet) along Macedonia Church <br />Road, east of its intersection with Rankin Road (as reflected in the <br />map attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by <br />reference); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the abandonment and closing of the identified <br />portions of each of said roads is essential to the construction of <br />the reservoir and the ultimate impoundment of water thereby; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the provisions of G.S. 136-63, the Board of <br />Commissioners of Cabarrus County may, on its own motion, request the <br />Board of Transportation to abandon and close any road in the <br />secondary system when the best interests of the people of the County <br />will be served thereby; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County hereby <br />determines and declares that the best interests of the people of the <br />County will be served by the closing and abandonment of said roads. <br /> <br /> IT IS, THEREFORE, RESOLVED, under the provisions of G.S. 136- <br />63, that the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County does hereby, <br />on its own motion, request the Board of Transportation to close and <br />abandon State Road 1619 (Rankin Road) for a distance of 1.4 miles <br />north of its intersection with North Carolina Highway 73, and that <br />it also close and abandon State Road 1620 (Macedonia Church Road) <br />for a distance of 0.1 mile (500 linear feet) east of its <br />intersection with Rankin Road. <br /> <br />This the 24th day of June, 1991. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F, Bonds <br />Frankte F.
