83 <br /> <br />bus stop. Sheriff Canaday discussed the health hazards associated with an indoor <br />range and estimated construction costs at $1.5 to $2.5 million for an indoor <br />range. In conclusion, he recommended that the County leave the existing outdoor <br />firing range as it is. <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart, Commissioner Carpenter, Mr. Graham and Sheriff Canaday <br />agreed to meet on Friday, April 8, to discuss the issue. Law enforcement <br />officials will demonstrate the use of the range at that time. <br /> <br />INFORMAL PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br /> Chairman Bar,art opened the meeting for Info,al Public Comments at 6:15 <br />P.M. <br /> <br /> Ms. Florence Potter of Midland stated that the cost for a child to play in <br />a County athletic league in the Midland community is $50.00 plus $23.00 for a <br />uniform. <br /> <br /> Ms. Marilyn Barnhardt of 5800 Wabash Lane, Concord, discussedthe following <br />concerns: the possibility of a school bond referendum in November if the May 3rd <br />referendum fails, clarification of a recent letter in THE CONCORD TRIBUNE <br />regarding the school bond referendum, the need for a Tree Ordinance in Cabarrus <br />County, and recent events at the Senior Center. <br /> <br />Executive Session - Personnel <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into executive session to discuss a <br />personnel matter and asked Dr. William F. Pilkington, Health Director, to join <br />them in executive session. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Chairman Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the executive session was adjourned. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Carpenter, seconded by Chairman Barnhart and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized Dr. William F. Pilkington to fill the <br />vacant Public Health Nursing Director II position at a salary of $52,262.16, <br />Grade 77, Step 5, Level 9. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 6:45 P.M. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
