411 <br /> <br />reams of information such as all birth records for 1994 or entire deed books. <br />Mr. Ross explained that such requests would greatly impact the workload of the <br />office and additional staff would be needed to keep up with the demand for <br />information. <br /> <br /> The Board by general consensus agreed to oppose Senate Bill 426 and asked <br />that letters be mailed to the County's legislative delegation stating the Board's <br />opposition to the proposed legislation. <br /> <br />General Services <br /> <br /> Mr. John Page, General Services Administrator, presented an overview of <br />General Services Administration, including the Building Maintenance Division, <br />Custodial Maintenance Division, and the Fleet Maintenance Division. The <br />department is responsible for planning, directing and providing maintenance and <br />repair of facilities and motor vehicles. Mr. Page presented a video showing the <br />various facilities and types of work performed by his staff. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the problems created by the use of skateboards at the <br />Governmental Center, including damage to the facility and safety concerns. At <br />the Board's request, Mr. Page stated he would work closely with the Sheriff's <br />Department and the Concord Police Department to enforce the County's Facilities <br />Ordinance which prohibits the use of skateboards on County property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richard Stancil, Building Maintenance Supervisor, reviewed the <br />activities of the Building Maintenance Division. This division is responsible for <br />providing maintenance and repairs to 51 County facilities and structures, <br />totaling 438,437 square feet and including 73 heating and air conditioning <br />systems. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelle Davis, Custodial Supervisor, reviewed the duties and <br />responsibilities of the Custodial Division which serves all County facilities. <br />Duties include the maintenance of floors, emptying trash, setups for meetings <br />held in any County facility, moving equipment and files, courier service to <br />various departments and the processing of all County mail. <br /> <br /> Mr. Terry Roach, Service Garage Supervisor, discussed the Service Garage <br />activities. Service Garage employees perform preventative and routine <br />maintenance and repairs on approximately 160 pieces of equipment, including cars, <br />trucks, heavy equipment, mowers, trailers and pumps. <br /> <br /> The Board briefly reviewed the County's Fleet Policy and the feasibility <br />of expanding the use of County vehicles to such departments as Home Health and <br />Building Inspections. <br /> <br />Recess of Meeting <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Barnhart <br />recessed the meeting at 7:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. on Thursday, May 11, 1995. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
