Delivery to Board of Elections. <br /> The Clerk to the Board of Commissioners is hereby directed to mail or <br />deliver a certified copy of this Resolution to the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Elections within three (3) days after the adoption hereof. Effective Date. <br /> This Resolution shall take effect upon its passage. <br /> <br /> Thereupon, upon motion of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner <br />Barnhart, the foregoing Resolution entitled: "RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL <br />REFERENDUM" was passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Commissioners Casper, Carpenter, Barnhart, Mills and Niblock <br /> Noes: None <br /> <br />Extension of Solid Waste Franchise <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Mills, seconded by Commissioner Carpenter and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Ordinance on first reading. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 1997-20 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE <br />RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE FRANCHISE ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. holds a franchise to <br />provide residential solid waste collection in the unincorporated areas of <br />Cabarrus County; and <br /> WHEREAS, negotiations on a new franchise agreement are continuing between <br />BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. and Cabarrus County; and <br /> WHEREAS, BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. Government Services <br />Representative Linda Ashendorf has agreed to an extension of the current <br />residential solid waste collection franchise issued to BFI Waste Systems of North <br />America, Inc. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the County <br />of Cabarrus that, effective immediately, the current residential solid waste <br />collection franchise issued to BFI Waste Systems of North America, Inc. is hereby <br />extended through January 31, 1998. <br /> Adopted this the __ day of , 1997. <br /> <br /> Sue B.
