June 15, 2004 Page 500 <br /> <br /> Pam Dubois, Deputy County Manager, recognized Mike Murphy, Director of <br />Aging Services, and Susan Donaldson, Aging Services Manager, for receiving <br />the professional designation of Certified Senior Center Manager from the N. <br />C. Division of Aging and Adult Services. Mr. Murphy and Ms. Donaldson were <br />members of the first graduating class of the knn Johnson Institute 'for Senior <br />Center Management to receive this certification. <br /> <br />(C-5) Recognition of Mary Ann Cooper for Receivin~ the Designation of <br />Certified Fair Executive <br /> <br /> Mike Downs, Deputy County Manager, presented a Certificate to Mary Ann <br />Cooper, Fair Coordinator, for receiving the designation of Certified Fair <br />Executive from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. This <br />certification is awarded to individuals who achieve high standards and <br />develop professional status in the field of fair management. Ms. Cooper is <br />one of only five people in North Carolina to receive this prestigious <br />designation. <br /> <br />(C-6) Proclamation Desi~natin~ June 13-19, 2004 as "Concord - All American <br />City Week" <br /> <br /> Chairman Freeman read the following proclamation declaring June 13-19, <br />2004 as "Concord - All American City Week" in honor of this national <br />achievement. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2004-25 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City of Concord is the county seat of Cabarrus County and the <br />largest municipality in the county. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Concord leaders from many different organizations have worked <br />together to improve community services, including large-scale community <br />efforts to enhance the Community Free Clinic, the Cabarrus Housing <br />Partnership and the Cabarrus Boys and Girls Club. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The National Civic League holds an annual contest to select <br />outstanding municipalities that have excelled at bringing together community <br />members, government, businesses and non-profit organizations to help solve <br />critical local issues. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Being named an Ail America City helps serve as an economic stimulus <br />to the community, increases community pride, and encourages greater community <br />collaboration. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City of Concord and a delegation of community members competed <br />in a national competition hosted by the National Civic League and was one of <br />only 10 municipalities named a 2004 All America City. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />does hereby proclaim June 13-19, 2004 "Concord - All America City Week" in <br />recognition of the City of Concord's national achievement. <br /> <br />Adopted this 15tn day of June, 2004. <br /> <br /> /s/ Robert M. He recognized Councilmen <br />David Phillips, Alfred M. Brown, Jr., and Lamar Barrier who were present for <br />the meeting. Councilman David Phillips also expressed appreciation for the <br />recognition but asked that the Board withdraw the lawsuit against the City of <br />Concord. <br /> <br />(c-7) <br /> <br />Arm~," <br /> <br />Proclamation - June 14 as "The 229th Birthday of the United States <br /> <br /> Commissioner Carpenter read the Proclamation honoring the 229th Birthday <br />of the United States Army. This Proclamation was adopted by the Board on <br />June 14 and is recorded on Page 493 of the June 14tn minutes. <br /> <br /> <br />
