CABARRUS COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> This commission serves a key role in shaping the future development of <br /> the county as it reviews subdivisions, assists in area plans, and makes <br /> land use decisions, some of which are forwarded to the Board of <br /> Commissioners. The commission also serves as the Board of Adjustment <br /> that hears and decides appeals of decisions by the Zoning Enforcement <br /> Officer, and grants special use permits/variances. Members include a <br /> representative from each of the 7 planning areas (Concord, Midland, <br /> Central, Eastern, Harrisburg, Kannapolis and Northwest Cabarrus), 2 at- <br /> large representatives and 3 Alternate members. Appointments are for <br /> terms of three years. <br /> CONCORD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> The Commission guides, reviews and regulates land developments within <br /> and around the boundaries of the City of Concord. The County <br /> Commissioners appoint one member who resides in Concord's <br /> extraterritorial jurisdiction area for a term of three years. <br /> HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> This advisory committee assists the Department of Aging with the <br /> development of the County Aging Funding Plan through the Home and <br /> Community Care Block Grant for Older Adults. The committee is <br /> composed of potential public and private providers of aging services, <br /> elected county officials, older adults and representatives of other aging <br /> interests in the county. <br /> HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD <br /> This board is appointed by the Board of Commissioners to advocate, <br /> advise and consult regarding services within the Department of Human <br /> Services. The board is composed of five members who are appointed for <br /> three-year terms. <br /> JUVENILE CRIME PREVENTION COUNCIL <br /> The council plans for the needs of adjudicated and at-risk youth and <br /> assesses the need for delinquency treatment and prevention services in <br /> Cabarrus County. The 25-member council is made up of a variety of <br /> judicial and public agency representatives as well as seven at-large <br /> members. Appointments are for terms of two years. <br /> MOUNT PLEASANT PLANNING BOARD AND BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br /> This board guides, reviews, regulates land development within and around <br /> the boundaries of the Town of Mt. Pleasant and hears and decides on <br /> appeals of zoning within the Town's jurisdiction. The Board of <br /> Commissioners appoints two persons who reside within the Town's <br /> extraterritorial jurisdiction area for terms of three years. <br /> Attachment number 1 \n <br /> 1-7 Page 203 <br />
