PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITY OF CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> The authority seeks to enhance public/private health care partnerships, <br /> stabilize county dollars going to support health services, and to provide <br /> consolidation and long range planning for health services. It also acts as the <br /> local board of health and is charged to protect and promote the public health <br /> of the citizens of Cabarrus County. Membership is as follows: Member or <br /> designee of the Board of County Commissioners; Member of the Cabarrus <br /> County Medical Society; Member of the Cabarrus Physicians Organization; <br /> Member or designee of the CMC-NorthEast Medical Center Board of <br /> Trustees; and three members from the general public not affiliated with the <br /> above organizations, but recommended by the nominees of those <br /> organizations. <br /> REGION F AGING ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> This committee advises the Centralina Council of Governments (COG) staff <br /> and COG Board on area plans for the aging within the nine-county region. <br /> County Commissioners appoint three members and one alternate to the 26- <br /> member regional committee. The appointments are for terms of two years <br /> except for the alternate appointment, which is a one-year term. <br /> ROWAN-CABARRUS COMMUNITY COLLEGE (RCCC) BOARD OF <br /> TRUSTEES <br /> This board governs the operation of the community college according to <br /> State law. The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners makes two four- <br /> year appointments to the Board of Trustees. <br /> TOURISM AUTHORITY <br /> This 9-member board is charged with the development of tourism, tourist- <br /> related events, facilities and other activities that serve to increase the <br /> amount of tourism in the County. The Board of Commissioners appoints <br /> membership as follows: Three members, including a County Commissioner <br /> and/or County Manager; three members from recommendations submitted <br /> by the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority; and three members from <br /> recommendations submitted by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of <br /> Commerce. Appointments are for terms of three years. <br /> TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY BOARD <br /> This board works to advance coordination between the County and human <br /> service agencies, to monitor transportation services and to advise the Board <br /> on issues related to human service transportation policy matters. Members <br /> include representatives from Human Services, Cabarrus Health Alliance, <br /> Cabarrus EMS, L.I.F.E. Center, Cabarrus Workshop, Healthy Cabarrus, <br /> Head Start, Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions and a representative <br /> of the visually impaired in the county. <br /> 1-6 Page 158 <br />
