ADDITION <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> 1792 <br /> - BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> APRIL 18, 2017 <br /> 6:30 P.M. <br /> AGENDA CATEGORY: <br /> Recognitions and Presentations <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Communications and Outreach — Excellence in Communications Awards <br /> BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> From the 10th North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) <br /> Conference on Thursday, April 6, Cabarrus County's Communications and <br /> Outreach department was among 22 North Carolina government <br /> communications programs to earn recognition at the Excellence in <br /> Communications Awards. Cabarrus County Television, Channel 22, <br /> General Manager David Baxter won a keystone award and the County <br /> won three awards. <br /> NC3C honored Baxter with the Chris Coulson Award, named for one of <br /> the founders of the organization. The award recognized Baxter for his <br /> commitment to Cabarrus County and his work as a pioneer who changed <br /> the face of the County's government channel, which he began <br /> administering in 2004. His on-scene passion for storytelling about <br /> Cabarrus County has earned him local recognition as well as statewide <br /> admiration by his peers. Baxter, also a founding member of the <br /> organization, is only the fifth person awarded the honor in the 10-year <br /> history of the organization. <br /> Cabarrus County Government received a first place award in the category <br /> of magazine for "Journeys Magazine," which uses personal stories, expert <br /> tips and resources to improve the quality of life of Cabarrus County <br /> seniors. <br /> Cabarrus received second place awards for the Early Voting Selfie Station <br /> as Most Creative Activity for Least Dollars Spent, and in the category of <br /> C-4 Page 52 <br />
