Area C
This subarea adjoins the south side of the Mallard :,.._.
Creek corridor and is presently undeveloped. It
contains some features that are among the most
valued in the County, including a large stand of
native mature hardwood forest. Conservation design
provides an opportunity to conserve some of those s
features while integrating development. The lower
gross density of this subarea could offset the more z
intense development envisioned for Area D.Here, '
single family homes(detached and attached)on lots
that vary in size may be clustered in pockets and be
complemented by natural areas protected through
conservation easements. Positioned adjacent to the m
future Mallard Creek Greenway(and Carolina "`'
Thread Trail), a portion of this subarea could be
utilized for a publicly-accessible nature preserve
similar to the preserves that are components of the .
Mecklenburg County Parks system.
181Morehead West Area Plan
Attachment number 1 \n
G-2 Page 160
