Flow enters the main pumping station <br /> through a 66"interceptor and splits into four channels containing mechanical bar <br /> screens before discharging into the pump wetwell.These screens are more than <br /> 30 years old and are due for replacement. In addition,maintenance procedures <br /> routinely require access to the second and third levels of the Main Pumping <br /> Station and these areas are classified as a confined space.Access to these <br /> areas poses significant risk to health and safety.These risks increase with the <br /> increased frequency of maintenance/repair operations required for these older <br /> bar screens.Black&Veatch has designed the submitted project to replace this <br /> aging equipment and alleviate grit sediment concerns in the inlet channels.
