Flow enters the main pumping station through a 66"interceptor and splits into four channels containing mechanical bar screens before discharging into the pump wetwell.These screens are more than 30 years old and are due for replacement. In addition,maintenance procedures routinely require access to the second and third levels of the Main Pumping Station and these areas are classified as a confined space.Access to these areas poses significant risk to health and safety.These risks increase with the increased frequency of maintenance/repair operations required for these older bar screens.Black&Veatch has designed the submitted project to replace this aging equipment and alleviate grit sediment concerns in the inlet channels. The owner has procured Four Duperon Model FlexRake bar screens which are stainless steel link driven,front cleaning and front return to replace the existing four screens.The proposed scope of work for this upgrade project includes inlet channel modifications,replacement of existing bar screen equipment,relocation of the existing belt conveyor,HVAC system modifications including new exhaust fans and air supply unit and associated structural and electrical modifications.
