CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> 179? <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> JULY 1712017 <br /> 6:30 P.M. <br /> AGENDA CATEGORY: <br /> Appointments to Boards and Committees <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Appointments and Removals - Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) <br /> BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) terms of appointment for <br /> Nathaniel Knust (Chief District Court Judge), Carolyn Carpenter (United <br /> Way / Other Non-Profit), Heather Mobley (Juvenile Defense Attorney) and <br /> Connie Philbeck (At-large) ended June 30, 2017. All are willing to serve <br /> another term. An exception to the "residency" provision of the Appointment <br /> Policy will be needed for Judge Knust and Ms. Mobley. Ms. Carpenter has <br /> served on the JCPC since 2006. An exception to the "length of service" <br /> provision of the Appointment Policy will be needed for her. <br /> The JCPC voted at their June 21 , 2017 meeting to recommend them for <br /> reappointment. A letter from the JCPC Chair, Troy Barnhardt is attached in <br /> that regard. <br /> In addition, Katherine Fitzgerald (Substance Abuse Professional) has <br /> resigned from her position on the JCPC. It is requested to remove her <br /> name from the roster. <br /> REQUESTED ACTION: <br /> Motion to reappoint four individuals to the Juvenile Crime Prevention <br /> Council as the Chief District Court Judge, United Way / Other Non-Profit, <br /> Juvenile Defense Attorney and At-large representatives for two-year terms <br /> ending June 30, 2019; including exceptions to the "length of service" and <br /> "residency"provisions of the Appointment Policy as needed. <br /> H-3 Page 108 <br />
