CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> 1792 <br /> - BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> AUGUST 21 , 2017 <br /> 6:30 P.M. <br /> AGENDA CATEGORY: <br /> Consent Agenda <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> County Manager - Wireless Communications Site Lease at Former <br /> Fairgrounds Property <br /> BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> County staff has been negotiating lease terms for a wireless <br /> telecommunications tower site on part of the former fairgrounds property <br /> off U.S. 601 . G.S. 160A-272 permits lease periods up to 25 years for the <br /> proposed use. The statute requires a resolution of intent to lease and <br /> advertisement of consideration of that intent to lease. <br /> There is a cemetery located on the property and the company negotiating <br /> with the County, Eco-Sites, has agreed to fencing that area as well as <br /> locating the tower such that it will not fall within the area should there be a <br /> collapse. <br /> REQUESTED ACTION: <br /> Motion to approve the Resolution authorizing the execution of the lease <br /> and authorize the County Manager to finalize lease terms subject to <br /> review and revision by the County Attorney. <br /> EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br /> SUBMITTED BY: <br /> Jonathan B.
