1 <br /> 1792 <br /> I, <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING LEASING A PORTION OF THE FORMER FAIRGROUNDS PROPERTY <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County owns property between Union Cemetery Road and U.S. 601 <br /> commonly referred to as the former fairgrounds property; <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners finds that portions of that property are not needed for <br /> any County or school building projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County has negotiated a lease for the construction of a wireless communications <br /> tower on part of the property that otherwise would remain unused; and <br /> WHEREAS, in consideration of leasing such space,the County will receive monthly lease payments <br /> that may benefit the public safety communications program; and <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statutes§ 160A-272 authorizes the County to enter into leases <br /> of up to 25 years upon resolution of the Board of Commissioners adopted at a regular meeting after 30 <br /> days public notice; <br /> WHEREAS, the required notice has been published and the Board of Commissioners is convened <br /> in a regular meeting. <br /> THEREFORE, THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RESOLVES THAT: <br /> The Board of Commissioners hereby approves a lease of the County property described above for <br /> a period not to exceed 25 years and directs the County Manager to execute any instruments necessary to <br /> effectuate the lease. <br /> Adopted this the 21s'day of August, 2017. <br /> Stephen M.
