CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> 1792 <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ir REGULAR MEETING <br /> SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 <br /> 6:30 P.M. <br /> AGENDA CATEGORY: <br /> Consent Agenda <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Tax Collection - 2012-2013 Motor Vehicle Receivable Write-off <br /> BRIEF SUMMARY: <br /> Per NCGS 105-373(h), the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> may relieve the Tax Collector of the charge of taxes on motor vehicles <br /> that are one or more years past due when it appears that the taxes are <br /> uncollectable. Historically, the Board has relieved the Tax Collector of the <br /> charge of these taxes when they become three (3) years past due. The <br /> Tax Collector's office has exhausted all means of collections on vehicle <br /> taxes due for the 2012 and 2013 tax billing years. The amount to be <br /> written off is $375,992.07 as of August 2017. <br /> 2012 $215,023.79 <br /> 2013 $160,968.28 <br /> Total $375,992.07 <br /> REQUESTED ACTION: <br /> Motion to grant relief to the Tax Collector of the charge of collecting taxes <br /> on classified motor vehicles for the 2012-2013 tax years. <br /> EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br /> SUBMITTED BY: <br /> David Thrift, Interim Tax Administrator <br /> BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: <br /> F-11 Page 92 <br />
