CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> BOARDS, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES <br /> The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners makes appointments to a number of <br /> boards, committees, commissions and authorities. All citizens of Cabarrus County are <br /> encouraged to volunteer to serve on these boards/committees. To obtain an application <br /> for appointment or for more information, please contact the Clerk to the Board, at the <br /> Governmental Center, 65 Church Street, SE, Concord, or call (704) 920-2109. The <br /> application may also be downloaded from the County's website at <br /> www.cabarruscounty.us. <br /> A listing of the boards/committees is as follows: <br /> ADULT CARE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> This committee seeks to maintain the intent of the Adult Care Home Residents Bill <br /> of Rights and to promote community involvement with the homes (homes for the <br /> aged, family care homes and homes for developmentally disabled adults). <br /> Members cannot be employed by an adult care home nor have any financial <br /> interest, directly or indirectly, in an adult care home. Immediate family of an adult <br /> care home resident in Cabarrus County cannot serve on the committee. Initial <br /> appointment is for a term of one year with successive appointments of three-year <br /> terms. <br /> ANIMAL PRESERVATION & PROTECTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> The committee's purposes are outlined as follows: (1) Review current operations <br /> of Cabarrus County Animal Control; (2) Provide educational materials in several <br /> languages to the Cabarrus County residents on Spay/Neuter, proper feeding, <br /> housing and healthcare for pets; (3) Establish a protocol for the availability for low <br /> cost spaying and neutering of pets belonging to indigent residents of Cabarrus <br /> County. Members serve two-year terms. <br /> CONCORD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br /> The Commission guides, reviews and regulates land developments within and <br /> around the boundaries of the City of Concord. The County Commissioners appoint <br /> one member who resides in Concord's extraterritorial jurisdiction area for a term <br /> of three years. <br /> HOME AND COMMUNITY CARE BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> This advisory committee assists the Department of Aging with the development of <br /> the County Aging Funding Plan through the Home and Community Care Block <br /> Grant for Older Adults. The committee is composed of potential public and private <br /> providers of aging services, elected county officials, older adults and <br /> representatives of other aging interests in the county. <br /> Attachment number 1 \n <br /> 1-8 Page 249 <br />
