CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF • • <br />REGULAR <br />APRIL 18, 2016 <br />• <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Planning and Development - Duke Helping Home Grant Funds <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The North Carolina Community Action Agency in conjunction with Duke <br />Energy has made funding available that is designed to expand local <br />Weatherization Services. Cabarrus County is eligible for $75,000 in <br />funding that can be used for HVAC replacements, the purchase of certain <br />energy efficient appliances, and health and safety improvements in the <br />home. Cabarrus County has been using the Duke Energy Carolina(DEC) <br />grant program for the past year. The DEC program is a rebate program <br />that has allowed staff to expand services. Staff is requesting permission <br />to participate in the Duke Helping Homes grant program as well.
