A high demand for English tutoring for Hispanic
ESOULEP residents has been documented by the Cabarrus Literacy Council, and library administration has identified the
absence of Spanish language services an unintentional barrier to equitable information access. To fully embody the library's
mission to serve a diverse public and provide for the literacy and lifelong learning needs of this significant portion of
Cabarrus residents, Cabarrus County Public Library proposes a multifaceted project to improve the target audience's ability
to discover information: increase literacy opportunities; improve Spanish marketing and outreach; and develop Spanish
language collections, resources and programs. Success will be achieved through employment of a Bilingual Library
Assistant, purchasing modern and relevant collections and resources, active recruitment and training of literacy tutors, and
publicity of expanded services.
Certification and Signature (please sign in blue ink)
We are aware of and agree to comply with all state and federal provisions and assurances required under this grant program.
If awarded grant funds, we assure that we will carry out the grant p 'ect according to the approved grant application.
