CABARRUS COUNTY
A
w r; BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
REGULAR
SEPTEMBER 19, 2016
i 'rfJJJJI II
6: 30 P .M.
AGENDA CATEGORY:
New Business
SUBJECT:
Planning and Development - Cold Springs Road Street Name Change -
Public Hearing 6:30 P.M.
BRIEF SUMMARY:
In the past, Cabarrus County E911 Addressing has required name
changes for duplicate road names, particularly where conflicts have
occurred. There are two roads in Cabarrus County named Cold Springs
Road, and another road named Cold Springs Road South. One of the
roads named Cold Springs Road is located near the center of the county
while the other is located on the western border. Due to this duplication of
road names, E911 dispatchers and first - responders are having difficulties
locating 911 calls from the Cold Springs Road on the western border of
the county. Staff is recommending changing the name of the Cold Springs
Road in the western part of the county to eliminate some of the confusion
for emergency services.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Hold a public hearing.
Motion to adopt road name change ordinance.
EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION:
15 Minutes
SUBMITTED BY:
Lee Snuggs, E911 Address Coordinator
Kelly Sifford, Planning and Development Director
G -2 Page 175
