CABARRUS COUNTY <br />A <br />* <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 19, 2016 <br />i �'y�J,rJJl� ll <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />County Manager - Allocation for Local Salary Match to the State Budget <br />for School Positions <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Every year, the County places funds in contingency to match the potential <br />cost for the proposed State budget increases for school system salaries. <br />Once the budget is passed by the State, the schools calculate this match <br />and send their funding request to the County. <br />A budget revision is attached to fund this request totaling $776,378, of <br />which $49,726 (based on Average Daily Membership (ADM) matching <br />requirements) will be allocated to Kannapolis City Schools to fund a <br />mental health responder. The total cost of the mental health responder <br />position is $60,000, therefore in order to make up the difference, KCS will <br />require funds totaling $10,274 to be released from their FY17 one -time <br />funds set aside for the opening of Kannapolis Middle School. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to adopt the budget amendment and approve the release of <br />$10,274 for a mental health responder position for KCS. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Pamela S.
