CABARRUS COUNTY <br />A <br />* <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 17, 2016 <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Human Resources - Drug -Free Workplace Policy Revision <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Cabarrus County Transportation Department recently underwent an audit <br />by NC Department of Transportation as our transit program and drivers <br />are under DOT guidelines. One item reviewed was the Drug -Free <br />Workplace Policy. The audit made several recommendations for <br />modifications to the policy. <br />Specific changes include: Definitions were added for County permitted <br />operators (drivers), DOT drivers and DOT versus non -DOT safety <br />sensitive drivers; In conjunction with Safety and Risk Management <br />reviewed post- accident procedures for compliance with new OSHA <br />guidance changing from mandatory testing to discretional testing based <br />on probable cause of accident; Specified split sample testing is at the <br />applicant or employee's expense; and Updated Employee Assistance <br />Program contact information.
