It is the policy of Cabarrus County that the workplace shall be free of the presence of alcoholic <br />beverages or unlawful controlled substances and that employees shall perform their job assignments <br />safely, efficiently, and without the adverse influence of alcohol or controlled substances. This policy <br />shall govern all County employees. Specific requirements for DOT covered employees are set out in the <br />Appendix. <br />B. Employees should be aware of the harmful effects, dangers, and impacts of the use and abuse of alcohol <br />and controlled substances in the workplace. Employees working under the influence of alcohol or <br />controlled substances: <br />1. May create unsafe conditions for themselves and others; <br />2. May perform unsatisfactorily and adversely affect the performance of others; <br />3.
