CABARRUS COUNTY <br />A <br />* <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 21, 2016 <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />BOC - Certified Work Ready Community Letter of Commitment <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />NCWorks Certified Work Ready Communities is a workforce <br />development initiative providing counties with a framework to showcase <br />their skilled workforce to current and future employers. Participation in this <br />initiative also benefits job seekers prepare for employment through <br />understanding the skills employers require. <br />A local committee met for the first time in September and is working to <br />submit the initial application in the process to become a Certified Work <br />Ready Community. The application packet requires a letter of commitment <br />from various entities and interest groups throughout the County, one of <br />which is the Board of Commissioners. A draft letter of commitment is <br />attached. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the Certified Work Ready Community letter of <br />commitment. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board /Assistant to the County Manager <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: <br />No <br />F -3 Page 127 <br />
