CABARRUS COUNTY <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />1 <br />E TA cA o� l�lo <br />JANUARY 2 0 , 20 <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Finance - CCS Request for Additional Funding for New Odell Grades 3 -5 <br />Elementary School <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) Board of Education (BOE) is <br />requesting $1,144,372 from the Board of Commissioners (BOC) for <br />additional funding to complete the new Odell Grades 3 -5 Elementary <br />School. <br />In addition, the BOE is providing information to the BOC regarding a <br />geothermal well field ($524,000) and LED lighting ($40,500) that will <br />reduce annual operational cost of the school. The total cost for these two <br />items are $564,500. <br />Staff and consultants will present district energy successes realized thus <br />far, energy and sustainable features incorporated within the project, <br />possible energy generation, and details and possible financing options of <br />these systems. The BOE would also like to alert the BOC of additional <br />cost for improvements on Highway 73 that are pending a final decision <br />from NCDOT. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to consider additional funding reques <br />Elementary School for additional funding to <br />amount of $1,144,372 and to also consider <br />geothermal well field and LED lighting. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />t for Odell Grades 3 -5 <br />complete school in the <br />funding $564,500 for a <br />G -3 Page 136 <br />
