■
Geothermal Heat Pump or ground source
heat pump (GSHP): a central heating
and cooling system that transfers heat
to or from the ground. It uses the earth as
a heat source (in the winter) or a heat sink
(in the summer). This design takes
advantage of the moderate temperatures
in the ground to boost efficiency and
reduce the operational costs of heating
and cooling systems.
IN
■ Net Zero Energy: buildings that use no more energy over the course of
the year than they produce from on -site renewable energy sources (New
Buildings Institute, 2012)
■ Solar panels
■ Wind turbines
■ Net Zero "Ready ": highly energy efficient buildings that can become net
zero with the future addition of on -site renewable energy sources
:f
•'• a n ' MOSELEYARCHISECTS
f ,. C:ax,rtp S::hcas
G -3 Page 145
