N.C. among top 3 moving destinations in U.S. Charlotte Business Journal, January 6, 2015 Once again, the Carolinas have ranked among the top moving destinations in the country for families relocating for jobs and retirement, according to an annual study released by United Van Lines. The study also shows that North Carolina, South Carolina and top- ranked Oregon are pulling away from the pack with more than 60 percent of the moves to and from those states being inbound. Oregon ranks No. 1, with 66 percent of its moves being inbound. South Carolina ranks No. 2, with 61 percent of its moves inbound, fol- lowed closely by North Carolina at No. 3, which also had 61 percent of its moves inbound, according to the 2014 Annual National Movers Study. North Carolina ranked at No. 3 in 2013 as well, with 58 percent of its moves being inbound that year, and it was No. 4 in 2012, with 55 percent of its moves inbound. In a survey of its customers, United found that 41 percent of people moving to North Carolina were doing so for a new job.
