CABARRUS COUNTY <br />* <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />1 <br />JANUA <br />• P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Planning and Development - Authorization to Submit the Weatherization <br />and Heating and Air Repair and Replacement Application <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Cabarrus County has participated in the Weatherization and Heating and <br />Air Repair and Replacement ( HARRP) programs for approximately twenty <br />years. The Weatherization program provides energy efficiency <br />improvements for low income households in order to reduce their energy <br />costs. Improvements include items such as insulation, air sealing, light <br />bulb replacement, duct sealing and refrigerator replacement. The Heating <br />and Air Repair and Replacement program provides repair and <br />replacement of heating and air systems for low income households. There <br />is no cash match for these programs. Applicants for the Weatherization <br />program must be below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines and <br />HARRP applicants must be below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to authorize staff to make application for the Weatherization and <br />Heating and Air Repair and Replacement program funds for FY 2016. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Kelly Sifford, Planning and Development Director, AICP <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT REQUIRED: <br />No <br />F -10 Page 98 <br />
