The need for a diversified funding stream to support the ongoing work and programing at the <br />Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm is apparent. Work on such a diverse funding strategy is already <br />underway. Currently strategy includes: <br />Barnraiser campaign, a crowd - funded online effort supported by Scott Avett and Family. <br />This 3o day campaign grossed $30,115 with net income of approximately $25,00o after <br />all campaign expenses are paid. <br />https: [ /www.barnraiser.us [projects /lomax- farm - launch- new - organic- farmers <br />Direct Contributions. To date this total exceeds $12,000. <br />Fundraising Events. Two fundraiser dinners are planned as well as an on -farm event in <br />the fall of 2015 <br />Corporate Sponsorships. $1,5oo has already been raised and other such efforts are just <br />beginning to take shape. <br />Lomax Participation Fees <br />County Contribution <br />Carolina Farm Stewardship Association seeks $25,000 in funding to help pay for programing at <br />the Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm from March 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015. This funding, in <br />collaboration with other funds already raised and fund- raising efforts planned for early 2015, <br />will allow Lomax Farm to operate under reasonable conditions, all while making plans to <br />strengthen programing and develop plans for a long term future. It will also allow time for a <br />transparent and robust public discussion about the future funding of agricultural education <br />opportunities in our community, including future funding of Lomax Farm. <br />CFSA will continue to receive and disperse funds, allowing individuals, organizations and <br />startup businesses currently operating at Lomax to be able to continue their work and for more <br />participation to develop in 2015. <br />Attachment number 2 <br />F -3 Page 21 <br />
