RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONSIDERATION FOR THE CLOSURE OF STATE ROAD 2481 (NORTH DRIVE), RUNNING THROUGH THE MT. PLEASANT MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS WHEREAS, a portion of North Carolina State Road 2481 (North Drive) in the Town of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina dissects the Mt. Pleasant Middle School property, being a paved road within the school property boundaries; and WHEREAS, General Statute 160A -299 requires that the Mount Pleasant Town Board of Commissioners adopt a resolution declaring its intent to close the public road or easement to start the process to consider that closure; and WHEREAS, the Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners is considering the request for closure and abandonment of State maintenance for this area at the request Cabarrus County Schools, as described on the attached Exhibit, but wishes to hold the required public hearing before making a decision on that closure; and WHEREAS, the Town of Mount Pleasant reserves its right, title and interest in any utility improvements or easement within State Road 2481 (North Drive) until said utilities are relocated at the expense of the Cabarrus County Schools; and WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has requested the Town of Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners to consider this action and provide a resolution of intent; and WHEREAS, the Town of Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners, at their regular meeting on - 3Pktj 5 2015, considered this action; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners expresses its intent to consider the closure and abandonment of public maintenance of S.R. 2481 (North Drive), as described on the attached Exhibit, and to hold a public hearing to provide for public input on this action.
