RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONSIDERATION FOR THE CLOSURE <br />OF STATE ROAD 2481 (NORTH DRIVE), RUNNING <br />THROUGH THE MT. PLEASANT MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS <br />WHEREAS, a portion of North Carolina State Road 2481 (North Drive) in the <br />Town of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina dissects the Mt. Pleasant Middle School <br />property, being a paved road within the school property boundaries; and <br />WHEREAS, General Statute 160A -299 requires that the Mount Pleasant Town <br />Board of Commissioners adopt a resolution declaring its intent to close the public road <br />or easement to start the process to consider that closure; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners is considering the <br />request for closure and abandonment of State maintenance for this area at the request <br />Cabarrus County Schools, as described on the attached Exhibit, but wishes to hold the <br />required public hearing before making a decision on that closure; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mount Pleasant reserves its right, title and interest in <br />any utility improvements or easement within State Road 2481 (North Drive) until said <br />utilities are relocated at the expense of the Cabarrus County Schools; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has <br />requested the Town of Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners to consider this action <br />and provide a resolution of intent; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mount Pleasant Board of Commissioners, at their <br />regular meeting on - 3Pktj 5 2015, considered this action; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Mount Pleasant Board <br />of Commissioners expresses its intent to consider the closure and abandonment of <br />public maintenance of S.R. 2481 (North Drive), as described on the attached Exhibit, <br />and to hold a public hearing to provide for public input on this action. <br />Adopted this 5 day of _ — 3.j� jh tLPrr'�.s_ 2015. <br />C <br />W.
