CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 20, 2015 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Recognitions and Presentations <br />SUBJECT: <br />Planning and Development - Soil and Water Conservation District - <br />Stewardship Week Proclamation <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />Stewardship Week has been promoted by the National Association of <br />Conservation Districts since 1955, and has been observed by Cabarrus <br />Soil and Water Conservation District since the district was created as a <br />single- county district by state statute in 1963. <br />"Local Heroes Your Hardworking Pollinators" is the theme for the 2015 <br />observance, scheduled for April 26 -May 3. The stewardship concept <br />involves personal and social responsibility, including a duty to learn about <br />and improve natural resources as we use them wisely, leaving a rich <br />legacy for future generations. Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation <br />District invites governing bodies, schools, communities of faith and <br />businesses to join in promoting and practicing good stewardship of all <br />natural resources. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Recognize Dennis Testerman for brief comments on Stewardship Week. <br />Motion to adopt proclamation. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />1 Minute <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />Dennis Testerman, Senior Resource Conservation Specialist <br />C -5 Page 27 <br />
