CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 20, 2015 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />DHS - Relocation of the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Department of Human Services (DHS) is recommending approval of <br />a proposed relocation of the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children to <br />the DHS Center in Kannapolis. Cabarrus County Partnership for Children <br />oversees and administers federal and state child care grants, including <br />the Smart Start child care subsidy. Their mission is to promote access to <br />affordable and quality child care services for children ages 0 -5 and to <br />promote early childhood education and development. <br />DHS and the Partnership are close partners in the provision of child care <br />subsidy services and are working on several projects to consolidate <br />services and access. The Partnership is in need of new office space and <br />DHS has available space with an independent entrance that would allow <br />the Partnership to co- locate within DHS while improving access for <br />citizens seeking child care services. DHS is requesting the Board of <br />Commissioners consider allowing the Partnership to use this space and <br />that an agreement for utilization of the space be drafted by the County <br />Manager and County Attorney. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the utilization of available space within the Cabarrus <br />County Department of Human Services Center by the Cabarrus County <br />Partnership for Children and to authorize the County Manager and County <br />Attorney to draft a utilization agreement for that purpose. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />F -3 Page 61 <br />
