CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 20, 2015 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />EMS - Transition from Scheduled Non - Emergency Transportation <br />Services <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />It is proposed to transition away from the provision of scheduled Non - <br />Emergency stretcher transportation by advanced life support providers. <br />Cabarrus EMS recommends assigning a franchise agreement to a <br />selected Non - Emergency provider to provide routine (non -911) <br />transportation of patients for scheduled appointments and discharges. <br />The provision of Non - Emergency stretcher transportation has increased <br />workload while generating minimal additional revenue. The personnel <br />currently occupying the Non - Emergency position would be reassigned to <br />emergency unit vacancies. This move would allow for greater focus on our <br />mission statement to provide progressive advanced emergency medical <br />services and promote community wellness.
