CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 20, 2015 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Infrastructure and Asset Management - District Attorney and Probation <br />Offices Alterations <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The concept of expanding the District Attorney's office and creating 11 <br />new offices in the Probation section of the Courthouse and Courthouse <br />Annex was originally presented to the Board at the January work session. <br />At that time, the Board authorized Infrastructure and Asset Management <br />(IAM) to proceed with the design process for this space and to receive <br />bids for the work. Drawings have been completed by Griffin Architecture <br />and bids were received on March 19. Ike's Construction submitted a low <br />bid of $163,600. This price includes $3,600 in bid alternates, and a <br />contingency allowance of $20,000. <br />The following items are not included in the bid from Ike's Construction but <br />would be necessary to complete the job: $41,278.35 for cubicles in the <br />new offices and $9,605.13 for access controls. The County would also be <br />responsible for $5,400 of data cabling in the new offices and for providing <br />furniture in the District Attorney's conference room and break room, at a <br />cost of $16,822.57. Funds are available in the Construction and <br />Renovation Fund, as identified in the original presentation of this project, <br />to fund these costs. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the bid award and authorize the County Manager to <br />execute the contract between Cabarrus County and Ike's Construction, <br />subject to revision by the County Attorney. <br />F -7 Page 82 <br />
