PROCLAMATION OLDER AMERICANS MONTH MAY 2015 ]79„ "Get Into the Act!" r WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council is committed to expanding the spotlight on Cabarrus County's older adults needs, programs and services to ensure the well -being of all older adults throughout the county; and WHEREAS, Cabarrus County older adults have continued a tradition of giving back some of their knowledge and experience; and WHEREAS, Cabarrus County older adults will continue to shape the county's policies, economic policies, social habits and culture; and WHEREAS, Cabarrus County older adults will continue to provide hours of volunteer, community, and civic service; and WHEREAS, Cabarrus County will continue to focus on how older adults and adults with disabilities are taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their communities, and making a positive impact in the lives of others by: • Emphasizing the importance of older adults to live with dignity in the communities of their choice as long as possible • Presenting opportunities for older adults to receive the following services: home - delivered meals, congregate meals, caregiver support, preventive health services, personal care, transportation, job training, and elder abuse prevention • Recognizing older adults as a valuable leader in strengthening the Cabarrus County communities to promote engaging activities for wellness NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim May 2015 to be Older Americans Month. We urge every Cabarrus County citizen to take time this month to recognize older adults and adults with disabilities and the people who serve and support them as vital citizens who greatly contribute to the community.
