PROCLAMATION <br />OLDER AMERICANS MONTH MAY 2015 <br />]79„ "Get Into the Act!" <br />r WHEREAS, Cabarrus County Senior Centers Advisory Council is <br />committed to expanding the spotlight on Cabarrus County's older <br />adults needs, programs and services to ensure the well -being of all <br />older adults throughout the county; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County older adults have continued a tradition of giving back some of <br />their knowledge and experience; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County older adults will continue to shape the county's policies, <br />economic policies, social habits and culture; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County older adults will continue to provide hours of volunteer, <br />community, and civic service; and <br />WHEREAS, Cabarrus County will continue to focus on how older adults and adults with <br />disabilities are taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their <br />communities, and making a positive impact in the lives of others by: <br />• Emphasizing the importance of older adults to live with dignity in the communities of <br />their choice as long as possible <br />• Presenting opportunities for older adults to receive the following services: home - <br />delivered meals, congregate meals, caregiver support, preventive health services, <br />personal care, transportation, job training, and elder abuse prevention <br />• Recognizing older adults as a valuable leader in strengthening the Cabarrus County <br />communities to promote engaging activities for wellness <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br />do hereby proclaim May 2015 to be Older Americans Month. We urge every Cabarrus <br />County citizen to take time this month to recognize older adults and adults with disabilities <br />and the people who serve and support them as vital citizens who greatly contribute to the <br />community. <br />Adopted this the 20 day of April, 2015. <br />Stephen M.
