CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 17, 2015 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />New Business <br />SUBJECT: <br />Active Living and Parks - FY16 Matching Incentive Grant Requests <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Active Living and Parks Department has a Matching Incentive Grant <br />Program which provides seed money for civic, community and school <br />groups to construct, improve or acquire recreational and park facilities in <br />Cabarrus County. The grant will fund up to 50% of a project. <br />The Active Living and Parks Commission reviewed eight with <br />requests totaling $63,922.25 at its July 16, 2015 meeting. The <br />Commission unanimously recommends awarding $36,325.25 toward <br />seven of these community projects. The Northwest Sports Association <br />was not recommended due to an inadequate proposal. Applications for <br />the remaining funds will be accepted in November and they are <br />encouraged to reapply with a complete and detailed plan. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the Matching Incentive Grant requests recommended <br />by the Active Living and Parks Commission for FY16 and authorize the <br />Finance Director to prepare the appropriate budget amendment. <br />EXPECTED LENGTH OF PRESENTATION: <br />10 Minutes <br />SUBMITTED BY: <br />John DeVitto, Active Living and Parks, First Chair <br />Londa A.
