1792 <br />A RESOLUTION DISSOLVING THE <br />ANIMAL PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />PURSUANT TO NORTH CAROLINA GENERAL STATUTES §153A -76 and 153A -77 <br />WHEREAS, the Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee was established by the <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners on July 26, 2004 in response to a report by the Cabarrus <br />Animal Control and Preservation Task Force; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee was to <br />review Animal Control operations, to provide educational materials to citizens and to create a protocol <br />for a low -cost spay and neuter program; and <br />WHEREAS, Animal Control now partners with the Humane Society of Concord and Greater <br />Cabarrus County and reports regularly on its procedures and operations and concurrently provides <br />citizen education through their combined mission and outreach throughout the county; and <br />WHEREAS, in FY 2015 and 2016 the Board of Commissioners assigned matching funds to help <br />meet the need for low -cost spay and neuter services through Spay -it- Forward; and <br />WHEREAS, the Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee met on an as- needed <br />basis and has not been active since their last meeting on January 11, 2012; and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statutes § §153A -76 and 153A -77 set forth the authority of <br />County Boards of Commissioners over commissions, boards and agencies and authorize the Board to <br />dissolve the Animal Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br />COMMISSIONERS HEREBY dissolves the Animal <br />effective as of August 17, 2015. <br />THAT THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF <br />Protection and Preservation Advisory Committee, <br />Adopted this the 17 day of August, 2015. <br />ATTEST: <br />Megan I.E.
