CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR <br />f <br />N <br />1 <br />1 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: <br />Active Living and Parks - Matching Incentive Grant Application Requested <br />Changes <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Active Living and Parks Matching Incentive Grant Program provides <br />seed money for civic, community and school groups to construct, improve <br />or acquire recreational and park facilities in Cabarrus County. The grant <br />will fund up to 50% of a project. In an effort to make the application <br />process easier, several changes are being requested. <br />The Park Commission reviewed and unanimously approved the proposed <br />changes. Additionally, they unanimously approved not having a 2nd <br />phase of grant applications this year due to time constraints in <br />successfully completing the projects by June 30, 2016. <br />Concord Parks and Recreation Deputy Director, Mark Kincaid, made a <br />presentation to the Commission about a potential Carolina Thread Trail <br />section adjacent to Rocky River at The Mills at Rocky River. The Thread <br />Trail has a grant to partially develop the trail. The trail is approximately 2.3 <br />miles in length. The City of Concord has agreed to take ownership of the <br />trail and maintain it. <br />The Commission unanimously agreed to recommend the remaining <br />Matchinq Incentive Grant funds of $59,329.00 be used to help fund the <br />Thread Trail section. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the Matching Incentive Grant application changes and <br />F -2 Page 102 <br />
