V ietnam Veterans Honored <br />in Park Dedication <br />t On November 15, Cabarrus County, with the support of the Cabarrus <br />County Veterans Coalition, dedicated Vietnam Veterans Park (formerly <br />' known as North Cabarrus Park). The program also commemorated the <br />- 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. <br />Included in the presentation was a reading of names of fallen Vietnam <br />soldiers from Cabarrus County; presentation of U.S. flag that hangs <br />over the park; presentation of the park and special presentations by <br />North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs Director Eario Pantano; <br />Bronze Star award recipient and retired war and foreign correspondent <br />Joe Galloway; retired Lt. Ge. Claude Kicklighter, inspector general <br />of the Department of Defense; and Jose Anzaldua, Vietnam POW for <br />more than 3 8 months. <br />"It is with deepest gratitude that we are all gathered here today to rec- <br />ognize brave soldiers and to honor their sacrifices to our country, our <br />county and our community," said Cabarrus County Commissioner Liz <br />Poole. "The renaming will serve as a reminder for all of us to honor, to <br />respect, to remember and to thank the soldiers of the Vietnam War." <br />11_15 -ZDIL4 <br />
