Jessica Fickenscher
5555 Concord Pkwy S
Concord, NC 28027
January 15, 2014
Ray Soporowski
President /GM
The Mills — A SIMON Company
8111 Concord Mills Blvd.
Concord, NC 28027
Dear Ray:
It is with mixed emotions that I am sending you this letter as my resignation from the
board of the CVB, effective immediately.
I have enjoyed being part of this board so much and I have learned a great deal from
leaders such as yourself, Donna and Phil, just to name a few. Please let the board know
how much I respect them as business and community leaders and I look forward to still
working with them in other areas. I also look forward to watching Donna take her team to
the next level, which is hard to believe because they are the best in the business.
With that being said, as you know Charlotte Motor Speedway is a significant anchor in
this community and a catalyst for starting tourism over 50 years ago. I know that Tim has
submitted his application for a seat on the board and I am confident that board will agree
and support him in representing Charlotte Motor Speedway and Cabarrus County. He
will be a huge asset and can bring so much more to the table than I did and he can devote
much more focus and energy to the CVB's efforts. Hiring Tim Haglar as our VP of
Community Relations was long overdue and he will make sure we are all doing we can to
make this area the premier destination.
I know that our paths will continue to cross and please know that I am always here to
assist the partners and stakeholders in this region in any manner that I can. Thank you for
your time and consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
r l`
essica Fick(;iiscber
Vice President of Special Projects
Speedway Motorsports, Inc.
CC: Donna Carpenter
Attachment number 1
H -3 Page 136
