NC 28026.0388
RE: Request to use remaining balance of one time project funds
Cabarrus County Schools is making the request to use the balance of the one -time project funds to replace the
existing roof on the K -1 building at Royal Oaks Elementary School is approximately 20 years old. It has had
numerous leaks over the last two years causing disruption to classes and creating many other operational
problems. Although Facilities Management Department staff have made efforts to locate the source of the leaks in
a timely manner and applied a large number of roof patches, the roof membrane continues to deteriorate. It is
imperative that this roof membrane be replaced as soon as possible in order to protect the building's interior
finishes and more importantly to provide the best possible environment for the children and teachers that spend
their days in the building learning and teaching each day.
The estimated project cost is $225,000. Current remaining balance of one time project funds is $194,071.Cabarrus
County Schools will use funds allocated for emergency projects for any amount that exceeds available one time
project funds.
Signed:
K y H.
