CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARDS, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES <br />The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners makes appointments to a number of <br />boards, committees, commissions and authorities. All citizens of Cabarrus County are <br />encouraged to volunteer to serve on these boards /committees. To obtain an application <br />for appointment or for more information, please contact Megan Smit, Clerk to the Board, <br />at the Governmental Center, 65 Church Street, SE, Concord, or call (704) 920 -2109. <br />The application may also be downloaded from the County's website at <br />www. cabarruscounty. us <br />A listing of the boards /committees is as follows: <br />ADULT CARE HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />This committee seeks to maintain the intent of the Adult Care Home Residents <br />Bill of Rights and to promote community involvement with the homes (homes for <br />the aged, family care homes and homes for developmentally disabled adults). <br />Members cannot be employed by an adult care home nor have any financial <br />interest, directly or indirectly, in an adult care home. Immediate family of an adult <br />care home resident in Cabarrus County cannot serve on the committee. Initial <br />appointment is for a term of one year with successive appointments of three -year <br />terms. <br />AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD <br />The Agricultural Advisory Board is designed to implement the provisions of the <br />Voluntary Agricultural District Ordinance. The Board is charged with accepting <br />applications to the voluntary agricultural districts, promoting the enhancement of <br />agriculture in our county, and assisting the Cabarrus County Commissioners with <br />information and positions regarding decisions impacting agricultural production in <br />our county. <br />CARDINAL INNOVATIONS HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS — Community Oversight <br />Board <br />By resolution as a result of new legislation, the Boards of County Commissioners <br />of Alamance, Cabarrus, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Franklin, Granville, <br />Halifax, Orange, Person, Rowan, Stanly, Union, Vance and Warren Counties <br />agreed to be served by a single Area Authority operating as a Managed Care <br />Organization with a governance structure that will function under existing law, as <br />well as under the new governance legislation. It is in the interest of the public <br />health and welfare to create an Area Authority to operate North Carolina's <br />1915(b)/(c) Medicaid Waiver as a Managed Care Organization and to manage all <br />public resources that may become available for mental health, intellectual and <br />developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services, including federal block <br />grant funds, federal funding for Medicaid and Health Choice, and all other public <br />funding sources. The Community Oversight Board (COB) is part of Cardinal <br />Innovations Healthcare Solutions' governance structure.
