Sheriffs Department <br />a. Maintain current internal notification/recall rosters and communications systems. <br />b. Assist in notification and warning to the local population of an impending or existing <br />emergency situation. <br />c. Develop and maintain mutual aid agreements with law enforcement agencies within the county <br />and adjacent counties. <br />d. Conduct law enforcement operations in the County during the emergency period (see Annex <br />E). <br />e. Coordinate additional law enforcement support with municipalities within the county, other <br />counties, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol during response operations. If the <br />situation requires National Guard support, request this support through the county Emergency <br />Management Coordinator. <br />f. Provide emergency communications systems (primary and backup) to the county EOC. Upon <br />activation, the communications section notifies all municipalities by radio that the county EOC is <br />open. <br />g. The Sheriff or his /her designee is part of the Operations Group in the County Emergency <br />Operations Center and coordinates law enforcement operations from the EOC during emergency <br />situations. Additionally, the Sheriff directs the kitchen to prepare meals to support EOC <br />personnel as needed. <br />h. Provide transportation resources for critical emergency personnel and equipment, as <br />necessary. <br />i. Conduct traffic control to facilitate the movement of evacuees to shelters. <br />j. Relocate and house jail prisoners during an evacuation of the Detention Center <br />k. Provide security and protection of the damaged/evacuated area(s) and critical facilities. Also, <br />control access and movement into these areas. <br />1.
