PURPOSE <br />The purpose of this annex is to facilitate shelter and mass care activities in Cabarrus County <br />(County) following a disaster. The annex also addresses shelter and mass care for those with <br />functional needs as well as pets. <br />II. SITUATION AND ASSUMPTIONS <br />A. Situation <br />1. Cabarrus County is subject to a variety of natural, technological, and human- caused <br />incidents that may result in the need for the public to evacuate their place of residence <br />and seek shelter. <br />2. There are emergency situations that may require the County to provide public shelters. <br />Cabarrus County also provides shelter for evacuees from Mecklenburg County in the <br />event of problems at the McGuire Nuclear Station. <br />3.
