ADDITION <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />r <br />BOARD COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />#C 1' <br />JULY 21 <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Recognitions and Presentations <br />SUBJECT: <br />ITS - Recognition of Regional and National Awards for Collaborative <br />Technology Services Between County Government and School Systems <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The strategic partnership between Cabarrus County Government, <br />Cabarrus County Schools and Kannapolis City Schools for Collaborative <br />Technology Services (CTS), has been recognized with regional and <br />national awards: Centralina Council of Governments Region of Excellence <br />Award, National Association of Counties Achievement Award, and <br />National School Boards Association Magna Award. <br />The Centralina Council of Governments Region of Excellence "Controlling <br />the Cost of Government" award recognizes recipients for creatively <br />implementing innovative programs that effectively deliver the most value <br />with public funds. Such programs exemplify efficiency through: utilizing <br />economies of scale; partnering with other local governments to maximize <br />the impact of public funds; and best practices to maintain or expand <br />services. <br />The National Association of Counties Achievement Award Program <br />recognizes innovative county government programs that modernize <br />county government and increase services to county residents. <br />The National School Boards Association honored Kannapolis City Schools <br />with a first place prize in the Magna Award competition. The Magna Award <br />is a national recognition program that honors school board best practices <br />and innovative programs that advance student learning. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />C -3 Page 65 <br />
