City of Concord Parks & Recreation Greenway Presentation Mark Kincaid After a presentation about the Hector Henry Greenway project planned by the City of Concord Parks and Recreation Department from Scott Padgett Dr. (Embassy Suites) to a proposed Park on Weddington Road; approximately 1.3 miles of trail a, • Motion was made by Gina Lowery, seconded by Donnie Broome that the Active Living and Parks Commission support the Hector Henry Greenway, Exit 49 connector project and to write a letter of support if needed showing support for the project. Passed unanimously. Proposed Re- Naming of North Cabarrus Park John Stanley Mike Murphy will meet with Tim Tereska, Veteran Services Director, to confirm their support and involvement with this project and to ensure the group gets the direction needed from Cabarrus County to continue their work toward developing a resolution once the group has established their Coalition for all Veterans. • Motion made by Mike Plowman, seconded by Blake Kiger to support the application as presented to rename North Cabarrus Park, Vietnam Veterans Park and recommend that it be sent to the Board of Commissioners at an appropriate time. Passed unanimously 4. Masterplan Update Reports Londa Strong Site Solutions, the consultant creating the MasterPlan is having the first steering committee meeting February 4 11 . Site Solutions is also creating the MasterPlan for the City of Kannapolis. The February 20 Commission meeting will be at the train station in Kannapolis from 6:OOpm- 7:OOpm, from 7:OOpm- 8:OOpm we will attend the first drop -in open public meeting for the City of Kannapolis MasterPlan. Commission is also invited to attend the February 27 first County public meeting at Northwest Middle School, 6:OOpm- 8:OOpm. NOTE: Correction — Boger Elementary. This will be a joint meeting with Kannapolis as they are developing a new Masterplan. The meeting will be a drop -in from 6:OOpm- 8:OOpm. February Agenda Items Donnie Broome Due to the short meeting time allotted in February agenda items were not taken. Meeting will be from 6:00pm- 7:OOpm and then we will attend the Kannapolis Community Input Meeting for the development of the new Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Masterplan. 1. Sr. Center Activities Adjournment Mike Plowman Mike Plowman gave updates on Senior Centers attendance and activities for the month of December. Frank Liske, Camp Spencer, North Cabarrus, and Senior Centers Reports Operations and Administration Report Motion made Blake Kiger, seconded by Andy Coley, to adjourn the January 16 meeting of the ALP's Commission.
