CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />`* 1 <br />�A �1 JANUARY 22,2013 <br />1 P .M. <br />AGENDA CATEGORY: <br />Recognitions and Presentations <br />SUBJECT: <br />EMS - Recognition of EMS Personnel for Successful Cardiac Arrest <br />Resuscitation <br />BRIEF SUMMARY: <br />The Cabarrus County EMS System implemented a new technology, <br />practice and protocol for the management of Cardiac Arrest Victims on <br />April 1, 2012. The system has resulted in delivery of comprehensive pre - <br />hospital cardiac arrest care by EMS providers, first responders, <br />telecommunicators and bystanders. The intervention has yielded positive <br />results in terms of patient outcomes as resuscitation rates have improved. <br />Return of circulation rates have improved to 80% when patients receive <br />bystander CPR, early defibrillation, and advanced life support. The <br />Cabarrus County paramedics and Telecom municators being recognized <br />today represent encounters with patients who were successfully <br />discharged from the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Recognize the performance of Cabarrus County EMS employees in their <br />efforts to save cardiac arrest victims. County Manager Mike Downs will <br />present awards packet to EMS Director David Hampton for <br />distribution.
