Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks Commission <br />October 18, 2012 Minutes <br />6:00 PM Cabarrus County Governmental Center Multipurpose Room — 21 floor <br />Call To Order by Chairman Broome <br />Roll Call <br />— Silent Roll Call was taken and meeting called to order <br />— Attendees: Donnie Broome, Tracy Broome, Gina Lowery, John DeVitto, Margaret Houston, Blake Kiger, <br />John Parker, Martha Macon, Scott Brown <br />— Absent: Danita Rickard (excused), Clara Swallows <br />Approval of Agenda <br />— Donnie Broome asked for a motion to accept the agenda, motion was made by Gina Lowery, seconded by <br />John Parker, passed unanimously. <br />Approval of Minutes from September 20, 2012 Meeting <br />— Scott Brown made a motion to accept the September minutes, seconded by Gina Lowery, passed <br />unanimously. <br />Old Business <br />1. Healthy Concession Presentation Victoria Manning, CHA <br />— Victoria Manning gave a Power Point presentation on healthy vending and concession options and the <br />impact that can be made in our community by offering healthy food options. <br />2. School Use Agreement Update Londa Strong <br />— School attorney is finalizing agreement after last meeting with the School Superintendent and County <br />Manager. <br />Discussed in the meeting: School is responsible for the park side of the school's facility until school is out, <br />after that the school park will be considered a county park. The fees for the outdoor facility rentals are being <br />discussed as to who will be receiving the revenue. Scheduling of school outdoor parks will be handled <br />through the online reservation program currently being used by our department. A general statement will be <br />added that as new schools are constructed this agreement will also apply to them. <br />3. Gym Supervisor Memorandum of Understanding Londa Strong <br />— There will be an agreement attached to the Memorandum that outlines the supervisor's, league <br />coordinator's, and our responsibilities and will be signed by everyone involved for each sport at we go <br />forward. The Association's will be hiring and setting the pay for gym supervisors and does not require <br />approval from the principal. The Board of Education and Cabarrus County Commissioners approved the <br />MOU agreement with the gym supervisor requirements. <br />4. By -Laws Update Donnie Broome <br />— Donnie Broome entertained a motion to change Senior Center Advisory Board to Advisory Commission or <br />Council (their choice), Martha Macon seconded, passed unanimously. <br />— John DeVitto made a motion to take away one At Large position on the Active Living and Parks Commission <br />in order to include a member from the Senior Center Advisory Board and keep the Commission at its current <br />number of 11 members. Margaret Houston seconded, motion passed unanimously. <br />— Tracy Broome made the motion to accept changing verbiage in By -Laws to reflect replacing one At Large <br />with a member from the Senior Center Advisory Board, seconded by Blake Kiger, passed unanimously. <br />Attachment number 1 <br />H -3 Page 157 <br />
