ABSTRACT <br />Clearly and concisely summarize the project here in 200 words /3400 characters, or less; then copy /paste <br />the text into the Online Signature Page. <br />The Cabarrus County Public Library and Cabarrus Literacy Council will work together to provide computer and <br />technology classes for the public, literacy students and literacy tutors. Grant staff will develop lesson plans, <br />teach classes and train staff and volunteers. There will be 4 class types: 1) For adults to learn basic computer <br />skills, use of the PAC, MSOffice applications, NC LIVE databases, job searching skills, resume writing, genealogy <br />skills, and demonstrations on other library databases; 2) For adults to learn technology skills. Classes will include <br />instruction on the use of cell /smart phones, eReaders and other related devices; 3) For adults served by the <br />Literacy Council. The classes will include basic computer skills and literacy related classes using software geared <br />toward low level adult readers and new adult readers; 4) For Literacy Council volunteers. Volunteer tutors will <br />how to use computers and technology with their students. <br />Once technology and computer skills are learned patrons can achieve personal goals which may include getting <br />a new job, advancing at current job, completing or furthering education, learning to use library resources, or just <br />learning new skills. <br />Attanhmant nnmh <br />Literacy & Lifelong Learning Project Grant, 2013 -2014 page 7 of 7 <br />F -8 Page 106 <br />
